European expert meeting on reading literacy

Prof. Paul van den Broek recently participated in an European expert meeting on Reading literacy  in Valencia, Spain. The aim was to set a research agenda for coming rounds of funding through Horizon 20/20.

Reading Literacy refers to children’s and adults’ ability to understand, use, reflect on and engage with written texts, in order to achieve one’s goals, to develop one’s knowledge and potential, and to participate in society (PISA, 2015). In the meeting, 13 experts from 6 countries convened to identify central components of reading literacy and to set a research agenda for coming rounds of funding through Horizon 20/20.
