Anne Helder and Katinka Beker presented posters of their work at the bi-annual LIBC day
The Brain and Education Lab is part of Leiden Institute for Brain and Cognition (LIBC). At the bi-annual LIBC-day in May, Anne Helder and Katinka Beker from our lab presented their work during the poster session. They both investigate reading development in primary school children.

During reading, readers construct a mental representation of the text. To gain a good understanding of a story the reader needs to connect the information from different parts of the text. If all goes well, the result is a coherent mental picture of the story. Anne and Katinka presented findings on how children construct such a mental representation of a text.

Anne and Katinka will also present their research at the annual meeting of the Society for Text & Discourse in Montreal, Canada, in July, 2012.
